Information for Prospective Students
Studying abroad is a life changing experience that requires a great deal of research and preparation. By studying abroad, you will be giving the opportunity to explore a new culture, gain confidence and maybe even hone your language skills. Our goal at the Global Education Process is to help find a program that fits your needs and goals, while also making the application process as smooth as possible. The first step is start asking yourself what type of program you would like to participate on. The section How to Choose a Program lists a number of factors you should consider when trying to decide where to study abroad. Do you want to go on a faculty-led program? A semester long program? Be sure to check our program page to see the number of programs available through Plattsburgh. You can also visit the SUNY study abroad search site to see other programs you can participate on through the SUNY system. Once you have started asking these questions, you can stop by the GEO office to schedule an appointment with one of our skilled study abroad advisors. The study abroad advisor will go over the application process with you, and you can also read How to Apply to get a better idea of what materials you will be expected to submit. You can also read the FAQs page to learn more about what the study abroad process entails. As always, you can call or email the Global Education Office if you have any further questions or if you would like to schedule an advising appointment.
